North Texas Healthcare Compliance Professional Association (NTHCPA) invites members and other interested health care compliance professionals to joining us as trial attorney Martin Merritt discusses“Practical Considerations In Defending Against Health Care Fraud & Abuse Actions on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Networking and registration begin at 11:30.  Program will begin at Noon.

With federal and state officials ramping up their war against health care providers, health care compliance professionals continuously face challenges to position their organization to prevent and defend against health care fraud and related challenges.  Attorney Martin Merritt will share his insights about practical considerations that often arise in defending health care providers against fraud and abuse actions and other practical insights to help health care compliance professionals and their leaders position their organizations to defend against health care fraud and abuse charges. 

About Martin Merritt


Attorney Martin Merritt focuses his practice on defending health care providers on Stark Law/Anti-Kickback Statute Compliance, False Claims Act Litigation and other litigation actions.  In addition to extensive experience serving as lead counsel in trials and administrative hearings on health care coding, reimbursement and quality concerns, he also serves as the Volunteer Legal Director of StarkLaw.org, a national website devoted to helping healthcare providers find answers to compliance issues, or referral to a health lawyer in their state.  Mr. Merritt also is the author of “Practical Considerations in Defending Stark Law, Anti-Kickback, False Claims Act, and Qui Tam Actions,” Dallas Bar Association, Health Law Section, (Jan. 2012) “Medicare Set-Asides Under the Secondary Payor Act,” National Business Institute, (Dec. 2010) and many other litigation publications.

There is no charge to participate in the meeting.  To help us to arrange for adequate space and refreshments for this meeting, however, advance registration is required.  RSVP here by Noon on September 17, 2012.  A complimentary light lunch will be provided for those who timely R.S.V.P.
